Today we drove to a section of Hadrian's Wall, a 1,900 year old wall built By the Roman Empire, starting approximately in 122 AD. The exact reason for the wall's existence isn't clear, but it may have been built to keep the Scottish warriors from getting in to the Roman conquered Britain. We hiked along side about 1 mile of the wall, taking pictures, and getting rained on. It was worth the trouble. I put up the pictures on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/richardglensailors/sets/72157627264708455/
